Within a disciplined and caring environment Hymers College provides opportunities for its pupils to achieve excellence in a great variety of academic and extra-curricular areas. Nearly all pupils from the Junior School proceed to the Senior School at 11, having taken the Entrance Examination. There is a broadly-based curriculum in the Junior School and academic standards are high. Music, drama and sport are all taken seriously and are performed to a high standard. There are specialist teachers in sport, music, computing and art, in addition to subject specialists in academic subjects.
Recent additions to the buildings are a new science/technology laboratory and a new Music Room. The Junior School is separate from, but shares the same facilities with the Senior School. A computer network has recently been installed in the Junior School.
All pupils are encouraged to be involved in extra-curricular activities, and high standards are achieved.
All pupils in the top two years will be taught Modern Languages.
The development of a new theatre is further enhancing opportunities in the Performing Arts. Additional classroom and cloakroom accommodation has been provided this year.
